How to read the result
Tier 1: Declared
The file tells you itself. Many AI tools write a record of what made them. When it is there, this is close to proof. When it is missing, that means nothing at all, because saving a file again wipes it.
Tier 2: Strong
Physical traces. Sensor patterns, grain that behaves like real light, lens flaws. Hard to fake, but easy to destroy by resizing or screenshotting.
Tier 3: Weak
Hints and leanings. Worth something when several agree, worth nothing on their own. Every one of them has an innocent explanation, shown next to it.
Use the original file if you can
A screenshot of an image, or a copy saved from social media, has already lost most of the evidence Grainprint reads. Those platforms strip metadata and re compress the picture, which erases the sensor traces. If a check comes back as "cannot tell", that is usually a fact about the file's history rather than about where the picture came from.
